ABOUT THE TEACHER ---and Principal

George Hofbauer has been teaching for 36 years.  He taught at Leo High School in Chicago for a summer and then at O'Dea High School in Seattle for two years.  Then he came to Saint Joseph grade school where he became Principal after three years of teaching in the Junior High.  He has a Masters Degree in Education Administration from Seattle University.  One of the activities Mr. Hofbauer engages himself in at the school is teaching one of the three eighth grade American History sections.

He has an interactive and engaging teaching style that calls for a great deal of student participation.  A number of games are used to help the students learn the material and become accustomed to team work and group dynamics.  Art is integrated into the class assignments along with technology.  The expectations for the class along with assignments and due dates for the entire year are given during the first week of class.  Each month students are given a detailed calendar for every day of the month.
